The wife of Putin's press secretary was found to have an account in a Swiss bank - this is prohibited under Russian law

Russian figure skater Tatyana Navka, having married the press secretary of the president, Dmitry Peskov, could keep her account at the Swiss branch of Banque Internationale à Luxembourg. This conclusion was made by the staff of the center. "Dossier", writes "Medusa", referring to the results of the investigation.

At the disposal of "Dossier" were documents about opening an account. It says that it was open February 20 2014 years - before Wedding Navka and Peskov. Unnamed sources “sent” an electronic version of the notification of opening a foreign account to journalists, drawn up on behalf of Navka. Whether the notice was filed with the Russian tax authorities is unknown.

In order to confirm that Navka’s Swiss account has not yet been closed, the Dossier sent five euros to it. The account number was recognized and tied to the name Navka Tatiana. The bank told reporters that the payment was successful.

The law prohibits Navka as the wife of a public servant to have a foreign account. She told Rain that she had no open account. Dmitry Peskov noticed that his spouse had accounts when she lived in the USA, but now they are closed. “She really cannot have foreign accounts, and she fully complies with current legislation,” said a Kremlin spokesman.

According to Deputy Director General of Transparency International-Russia Ilya Shumanov, Russian officials have begun to close foreign accounts just now, although the ban has been in effect since 2013. This is due to the fact that now the Russian tax authorities automatically exchange information with foreign colleagues. “That is, the information [about Navka’s account] is either already known to our bodies, or will be known by the end of this year,” noted Schumanov.

A few hours after publication, it became known that President Vladimir Putin had signed a law allowing the Prosecutor General’s Office to verify information on whether Russian officials had accounts and savings in foreign banks abroad.
