The 58-year-old diplomat has already operated on, and according to him, the doctors give positive forecasts of the development of events, writes “Lenta.ru report".

“This is only the first stage. So this will probably be taken care of and everything will be fine, ”said Huntsman in an interview with Deseret News before the surgery, but asked the journalists not to advertise this information until the full article, which was published after the operation.

The ambassador explained that he had initially noticed a small black dot behind the ear, and then found another one on the thigh. Doctors confirmed that it was a melanoma, after which he secretly flew to the United States for an operation. Both tumors were removed, but now the diplomat needs to be checked every month during the first year after the operation.

According to Huntsman, the doctors said that the disease was detected at an early stage, therefore, most likely, everything will be fine.

At the same time, the head of the American diplomatic mission in Russia noted that it was the melanoma that had metastasized to the brain that caused the death of the US senator John McCain. He also said that his father had recently died of cancer.
