Reviews.org, a company that tests home services and products, conducts 24 hour digital detox... Selected applicants will be paid over two thousand to live the whole day without screens.

Who can participate

To determine who should apply, the company asks some insightful questions.

"Have you always wanted to win in reality events like the American Ninja Warrior, but were you too busy trying to beat Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat instead?" - asks Reviews.org from potential job seekers.

“Do you know too much about your old friends from social networks?” is another question.

According to the company, the ideal candidate is someone who is “definitely passionate about technology” and ready to take on a challenge. And while it may seem easy to do an Instagram detox for a day, the whole task is a little more complicated.

Not as easy as it seems

Those who are chosen to participate in the challenge will not only have to give up their phones for the day, but also deny themselves access to television, games, computers, smartwatches and smart home devices (think smart speakers).

But, the company explains, you can use microwave ovens.

Applicants will receive safes to store their electronics for 24 hours, as well as a $ 200 Amazon gift card to assemble a technology-free "survival kit," the company said on its website.

Some of Reviews.org's “survival kit” offerings include a typewriter instead of a computer, writing paper instead of social media, and paints and brushes to replace the fine art of selfies.

Screen time is a health risk

The challenge from the company comes as “screen time” takes on a new meaning. The pandemic has forced many people to work remotely and schoolchildren and students to study online, making screens more necessary than ever before.

According to a 2019 report by the nonprofit Common Sense Media, American teens spend an average of more than seven hours a day on screen media just for fun.

“We have a feeling someone needs a break,” writes Reviews.org.

The company asks for some personal information from those who apply and asks them to tell you in 100 words why you are suitable for the task. Acceptance of applications will be open until March 26, and the winners will be announced on the company's page in YouTube 29 March.
