Trump administration officials are spending too much money traveling the world under the guise of 'business trips'

Donald Trump's right-hand woman, Susie Wiles, nicknamed the Ice Queen, is tightening her grip on the cabinet. She's demanding that the president's inner circle remain in the country and not spend money on expensive foreign trips, writes Daily Mail.

At a February meeting with cabinet members and senior advisers at the Capitol Hill Club, Wiles said international travel would be limited to essential travel.

Under the new order, all cabinet-level foreign travel must be personally cleared by Wiles, two sources said.

The president's inner circle is pushing Trump supporters to curtail their international travel as the midterm elections approach. Republicans fear they will suffer a defeat in November.

"All travel is handled by the Cabinet Office. International travel is considered on a case-by-case basis, but we are clearly expected to prioritize domestic travel," one source explained.

An administration official said the White House is urging all Cabinet members to focus on domestic travel this year. The Cabinet has come under scrutiny following the recent dismissals of Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi, and Lori Chavez-Deremer.

The policy change followed a number of cabinet members' extensive travel abroad. For example, in 2025, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture Brooke Rollins visited Japan, Brazil, Peru, India, Vietnam, and the United Kingdom, where she discussed agricultural exports and trade issues.

"It begs the question, why did Brooke go to the UK?" one source noted. "Susie has become much more strict about setting the rules."

A March 2025 USDA press release described Rollins' travel as "an active international visitation program."

"President Trump and his Cabinet will continue to work to lower costs for working families and will travel the country explaining and promoting his pragmatic agenda," White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales said.

The sources noted, among other things, that the tightening of travel rules is not aimed at Rollins personally or any specific cabinet member.

They say it's part of a broader policy aimed at keeping Trump's representatives focused on domestic political issues ahead of the election campaign.

Polls show that Democrats now have a better chance of regaining control of both houses of Congress.

A U.S. Department of Agriculture spokesman defended the agency's chief travels.

"Brooke Rollins is playing an unprecedentedly active role in expanding access for American products to foreign markets. She regularly meets with American exporters and foreign government representatives in key markets to reduce trade barriers," he explained. "Undersecretary for Trade and International Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindberg has visited more than two dozen countries over the past year. We are consistently working with foreign governments to increase American agricultural exports."
