- The 45th president promises to launch the largest deportation campaign in US history, paid for with redirected military funds, Reuters reports.
- He would reinstate his 2019 “Remain in Mexico” program, which required asylum seekers at the U.S. border to wait in Mexico while their cases were processed.
- Trump said he would end what he called "catch and release" and instead detain all migrants caught entering the United States without permission or violating other immigration laws.
- He will direct the US National Guard and local law enforcement to assist with the swift deportation.
- The 45th president said he would impose travel bans on people from Gaza, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen and "anywhere else that threatens our security."

- Stop issuing "birthright" citizenship to children born in the United States to undocumented parents.
- Trump has promised to end Biden's immigrant parole program and end temporary protected status.
- He will try to end the DACA program again.
- During his presidency, some 450 miles of fencing were built along the southwest border.

Since then, she has been working with Mexico and the Northern Triangle to address the "root causes" of migration, but so far with limited success.
- Biden put her in charge of immigration enforcement along the southern border in 2021, a role the White House said was to stop the arrival of "illegal migrants."
- Just recently at the Republican National Convention, Republicans sharply criticized the Biden-Harris approach to border issues.
- Under the Biden-Harris administration, nearly 250 people crossed the border in December 000, surpassing the previous high of 2023 in May 224.
- In March, Harris announced that private companies had committed $5,2 billion to support Central American communities to deter illegal entry into the U.S.
- "The problems certainly didn't happen overnight, and the solutions won't happen overnight," Harris said of the border.

Crime
Tramp
- Proposes moving homeless camps out of cities.
- He wants to give the police more powers, deploy the army to combat the country's drug problem and introduce the death penalty for convicted drug dealers.
- It will provide record funding for police recruitment and training, strengthen police immunity, and toughen penalties for assaults on law enforcement officers.
- Promises to deploy federal prosecutors and the National Guard to high-crime areas.
- As president, Trump has pardoned 73 people and commuted the sentences of 70 more, including former staffers and advisers such as Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Stephen K. Bannon and George Papadopoulos.
Harris

- In April, Harris hosted reality TV star Kim Kardashian at the White House to discuss criminal justice reform after the Biden administration pardoned people convicted of non-violent drug offenses.
- The U.S. incarcerates more people than any other country. About 1 in 5 of those 1,9 million people are behind bars for drug-related crimes. Blacks and Latinos are disproportionately incarcerated, and drug reform enjoys the broadest support among young voters. Blacks, Latinos, and young voters tend to favor Democrats.
- “Everyone makes mistakes, and for some it may rise to the level of a crime,” Harris said at the White House. “But isn’t it a sign of a civil society that we give people the opportunity to earn their way back and provide them with the support and resources they need to do so?”
- Harris' performance as California attorney general drew the ire of many progressives during her 2020 presidential campaign.
- During her seven years as district attorney and then six years as attorney general, she defended the cash bail system in two federal court cases, reversing course just weeks before entering the Senate.
- As a 2020 presidential candidate, she promised to overhaul the country's criminal justice system, advocating for marijuana legalization, bail reform, and a moratorium on the death penalty.
Inflation and the Economy
Tramp
- Promised "lower taxes, higher wages and more jobs for American workers" by imposing a universal base tariff that "rewards domestic production" and taxes foreign companies.
- He said he would lower interest rates.
- Claims to have achieved the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years during his presidency — 3,5% — with 6,4 million additional jobs added before the pandemic.
- During his presidency, the federal debt held by the public has grown from $14,4 trillion to $21,6 trillion, driven by Trump's tax cuts, especially the corporate tax rate cut.
- Trump proposes tax breaks for big business and the wealthy to encourage investment.
- He said his tax cuts would boost economic growth to 3%, something he failed to achieve in his first term.
- The 45th president has proposed not taxing tips or Social Security income.
Harris
- Shortly after Biden took office as vice president, the administration signed the American Rescue Plan, a $2 trillion stimulus package that increased unemployment benefits and expanded the child tax credit.
- Inflation hit a four-decade peak of 9% in the summer of 2022, but has since fallen to around 3,5%.
- Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act in August 2022, which invested in clean energy. The White House estimates it created 117 jobs and would reduce Americans' energy bills by as much as 000% by 9.
- Harris said reducing inflation is a priority for the Biden administration.
- During her time in the Senate, Harris tried to pass a bill that would make tax credits of up to $6000 available to middle- and low-income households.
- Harris has been a vocal advocate for student debt forgiveness, leading the Biden administration's push to cancel debt for hundreds of thousands of students at Corinthian Colleges.
- In 2017, she co-authored Bernie Sanders' proposal for free college for middle-class students at four-year public schools.
- Harris wants to raise taxes on the wealthy and large businesses to fund housing investment and tax breaks for parents.
- She proposed more financial assistance for first-time homebuyers and expanded tax credits for parents.
- The Democrat wants to cut taxes for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Harris plans to eliminate tip taxes.
War in Ukraine
Tramp
- He spoke passionately at a September debate about wanting Russia's war in Ukraine to end, but twice refused to answer directly when asked whether he wanted Ukraine, a U.S. ally, to win.
- Falsely claimed the war had killed "millions" since Russia invaded Ukraine 2,5½ years ago, while the UN says 11 civilian deaths have been confirmed.
- Called for a ceasefire in an official election statement.
- He says he can "resolve a conflict in one day."
- Trump said: "Every day that the war in Ukraine continues, we risk global war."
- More generally, he proposes to overhaul the State Department, the “defense bureaucracy,” and the intelligence services to fire those he calls members of the “deep state.”
Harris
- She praised the support the US and NATO are giving to Ukraine in its fight against Russian invasion and called on it to continue.
- Harris announced that the United States would donate more than $1,5 billion to Ukraine, with funds coming from the State Department and USAID.
- This financial aid will go towards infrastructure, security, energy and assistance to refugees.
- Harris agrees with Biden on helping Ukraine in its war with Russia.
- During the June Ukraine Peace Summit, Harris spoke of America's commitment to Ukraine.
Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Tramp
- Has not announced plans for war between Israel and Hamas if re-elected in 2024.
- He said that the war would never have started if he had been president, and stated that the war in Ukraine would not have started either.
- He assumed that the war would simply "end."
- He said in an October interview with Fox News: "We need to protect Israel. There is no choice."
- Positioned himself as a strong ally of Israel while criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
- Ordered Israeli intelligence services to "step up their game."
Harris

- Harris called in March for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza, calling the situation a "humanitarian catastrophe."
- She said the Hamas threat to Israel "must be eliminated" but added that "too many innocent Palestinians have been killed."
- Harris spoke out against Israel's incursion into Rafah, in southern Gaza, where more than a million people have fled. "I've looked at the maps. These people have nowhere to go," she said, noting that there were about 1,5 million people there.
- Harris has repeatedly expressed support for a two-state solution.
Police and gun ownership
Tramp
- During his first presidential campaign, he positioned himself as a defender of the Second Amendment.
- The Trump-era ban on folding bump stocks was overturned by the Supreme Court in June 2024, which said the Trump administration had overstepped its bounds by banning rapid-fire gun attachments.
- Following the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022, Trump called for a "radical" change in the country's approach to mental health and a "top-to-bottom overhaul of school safety in schools across the country," but rejected calls for stricter gun restrictions.
- Trump, at an event sponsored by the National Rifle Association (NRA), promised to repeal Biden's gun restrictions if re-elected.
Harris
- During the September debate, she stated that she is a gun owner.
- She called for universal background checks and expanded red flag laws to take guns away from people deemed dangerous or unstable.
- Harris wants to ban so-called assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
- She took a hard line on police after the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. Harris co-sponsored a Senate bill that would ban police from using chokeholds and no-knock warrants, set a national use-of-force standard, and create a national police misconduct registry. It would reform the immunity system that shields officers from liability.
- Now she wants independent investigations into police shootings. But as a prosecutor, Harris did not support a 2015 California bill that would have required her office to handle such cases.
- In June, as vice president, she said more needed to be done at the federal level to prevent gun violence during a campaign stop in Maryland.
- Harris called for a ban on assault-style weapons in 2022 following high-profile shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas.
Social security (pensions)
Tramp
- Ordered Republicans in Congress not to cut "one penny" from Medicare or Social Security.
- He later made comments suggesting he was open to cuts to Medicare and Social Security; his team walked back those comments and said the remarks were taken out of context.
- Called on Republicans to focus funding cuts on areas of "waste, fraud and abuse" in addition to programs related to foreign aid, immigration, climate change and LGBTQ rights.
- Said in a campaign statement that he would reduce the cost of prescription drugs and health insurance premiums.
Harris
- When she was a U.S. senator from California, she supported the Social Security Expansion Act.
- As vice president, Biden's 2024 budget proposal called for "protecting and strengthening" Social Security but gave few details about program reforms.
- During the 2020 campaign, Harris proposed raising taxes on those making more than $400 to support Social Security, but largely abandoned the idea after taking office.
- The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare has endorsed Democrats' Social Security plans that would impose additional taxes on wealthy individuals with incomes over $400.

- Promises to make fentanyl a federally controlled substance.
- Threatens China with 'high price' if it does not stop exporting fentanyl precursor chemicals.

- Harris has brought together state attorneys general from across the country at the White House in July 2023 to discuss the problem of fentanyl and other drugs in America.
- "We are all united today because we are facing a public health crisis. So we need to address the underlying public health issues around both addiction and treatment," she said.
- Harris wants to expand access to naloxone and make it more affordable because it reverses overdoses, something the vice president called “the difference between life and death.”
Abortions
Tramp
- During the September debate, he lied that Democrats support third-trimester abortion and infanticide. No state in the country allows infanticide.
- He refused to commit to vetoing a national abortion ban.
- Donald Trump has called the overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling, which legalized abortion across the United States, a "great victory."
- In April 2024, he said on his social media platform Truth Social that it would be better if states decided abortion issues the way their voters wanted, and noted that he favored exceptions for rape, incest, and threats to the life of the mother.
- On Truth Social, he said he "strongly" supports fertility treatments and "has never and will never" advocate for restrictions on birth control.
Harris
- Harris said women don't want abortion bans. She spoke of women who miscarry and are denied care because doctors fear going to jail, and of teenagers who are victims of incest and are forced to give birth.
- She promised to sign a bill to protect abortion rights throughout the United States.
- Harris has aligned herself with Biden on abortion, saying recently that “everything is at stake” when it comes to women’s reproductive rights.
- The vice president advocates for ensuring that all American women have access to legal abortions.
- "Every person of any gender needs to understand that if a fundamental freedom like the right to make decisions about one's own body cannot be realized, then one must be mindful of what other freedoms may be at stake," she told MSNBC.
- Harris lied in X when she wrote that Trump would ban abortion nationwide. She then added, “President Joe Biden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women’s reproductive freedom.”
- Harris visited a Planned Parenthood clinic in Minnesota in March of this year, calling abortion bans or restrictions “immoral.” “How dare these elected leaders believe that they are in the best position to tell women what they need,” Harris said at the time. “We’re supposed to be a nation that trusts women.”
Climate change
Tramp
- During a September debate, he falsely claimed that under Harris there would be “no fossil fuels” and the country would “go back to windmills.” At one point, he called himself a “fan” of solar energy, but then criticized solar farms that take up large tracts of land.
- Trump said that if he is re-elected, he will end the "atrocities of the Green New Deal" on day one.
- He promises to speed up approval for gas pipelines in the Marcellus shale fields of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York.
- Trump is set to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement again. He previously pulled the United States out of the agreement, but Biden, upon taking office, immediately brought the United States back into the agreement.
- The 45th president is going to fight lawsuits from environmentalists.
Harris
- During the September debate, she called for investment in "diverse" energy sources "so that we reduce our dependence on foreign oil."
- Harris has supported the Biden administration's climate initiatives, including legislation providing billions in tax credits for renewable energy and electric vehicles.
- “The clock is not just ticking, it’s striking,” she said last year, referring to the disasters caused by climate change. She noted that the administration had made “the largest climate investment in American history.”
- During her 2020 presidential campaign, Harris focused on the impacts of climate change on poor and minority communities, a focus she has continued as vice president.
- In 2019, as a senator, Harris and House Sen. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., introduced a bill to assess the impact of environmental regulations on low-income communities. The bill failed to pass.
