Trump Administration Strips Harvard of Right to Educate International Students
The Donald Trump administration has stripped Harvard University of its right to educate foreign students, the Department of Homeland Security said, writes Air force.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has ordered Harvard University to cease its certification as a student exchange program. Foreign nationals planning to study in the United States must obtain an F or M visa. Only institutions certified to accept students and exchange visitors (SEVPs) can issue the necessary documents for obtaining a visa.
This means that Harvard will no longer be able to accept international students. Those who are already studying at Harvard will be forced to transfer to other universities. Otherwise, they will lose their right to stay in the country.

According to the university, about 7000 international students studied at Harvard last academic year, or 27,2 percent of the total student body.
"The administration holds Harvard responsible for fomenting violence, anti-Semitism and contacts with the Chinese Communist Party," Kristi Noem said, noting that it is "a privilege, not a right, for universities to admit international students" and benefit from higher tuition.
Harvard called the Trump administration's move illegal in a statement.
“We are fully committed to preserving Harvard’s ability to welcome students and scholars from more than 140 countries. They enrich the university and our country immeasurably,” Harvard said in a statement.
"This act of retaliation threatens to cause serious harm to the Harvard community and our country. It undermines Harvard's academic and research mission," the university said in a statement.
In mid-April, the U.S. Department of Education announced a freeze on federal grants to Harvard.
The reason for this was the university’s refusal to comply with the department’s demands, which included checking the “views of students and staff.”
Specifically, the university was required to develop a system to prevent the admission of foreign students “hostile to American values and institutions.” The university was required to audit its programs (with outside experts) for anti-Semitism and other forms of hate.
The university refused to comply. Trump threatened to strip Harvard of its special tax status and ability to accept international students.
The educational institution filed a lawsuit against the administration demanding that funding be restored.

In late April, Harvard University released two reports, one on anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment on campus, and one on anti-Islamism. Both reports were critical of the campus culture and the university’s response to it.
Following the release of the reports, Harvard President Alan Garber apologized for the university's failure to live up to the expectations of students and faculty.
