A three-year-old boy from Montana disappeared in the forest: two days later he was found alive and unharmed

A three-year-old boy from Montana was found in a cabin in the woods after being considered missing for 48 hours. Writes about it MSN.

Police said Riker Webb is healthy and in good spirits after the rescue.

A couple in the Bull Lake Valley region heard a voice from their barn and found Riker inside, Lincoln County Sheriff Darren Short said.

He said the couple decided to come to their cabin for the weekend and heard whimpering from the barn. When they entered, they found Riker inside a lawn mower bag. Short believes that Riker took shelter in the barn and slept in a lawn mower bag.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Riker disappeared on June 3 in the afternoon. He played with his dog near the house.

At 16:53 p.m., the police received a call that Riker had been missing for more than two hours.

The search began in the Bull Lake Valley area. Authorities said ATVs, drones, dog sleds and even a boat were used to search for Riker.

Helicopters from the Montana National Guard joined the search on June 4. The Flathead and Spokane County Police also became part of the rescue team. She provided drones as well as additional dog teams.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that bad weather made the search difficult. The night Riker went missing, there were severe thunderstorms in the area.

On June 4, police issued warnings to residents asking them to search their property and buildings for the boy.

In the end, Riker was found only two miles (3,2 km) from the house. According to police, he was hungry, thirsty and cold. The area where the lost child was found is inhabited by mountain lions and bears.

Short spoke to Riker inside the shed before carrying him to a waiting ambulance.

“He was terribly shocked and scared when I first spoke to him,” he said.

The boy was taken to a local hospital, officials said. According to preliminary data, everything will be all right with him.

Short said authorities are investigating why Riker's parents waited two hours before reporting him missing.

“We want to make sure we know the details of how he was able to leave and why the parents waited so long to report,” Short explained.

He added that Child Protective Services had responded to the scene and they were investigating, along with the police, possible cases of negligence and threats to the family.
