Trump Expands Immigration Officers

Decrees of the President of the United States on immigration can mean a significant expansion of the powers of immigration officers and a sharp increase in the detainees and deported illegal immigrants, reports CNN.

Under President Obama, those who threatened public or national security, committed serious crimes or were involved in criminal activities of the gang came under deportation first of all.

Trump, in his decrees, goes far beyond the definition of a “criminal”, thereby allowing an immigration officer to independently judge threats to public safety.

According to the decrees of the current President, those who “were convicted of any crime will be expelled from the country; who was charged with a criminal offense; engaged in fraud or intentional misrepresentation in connection with any official request; abused any program related to obtaining state benefits; persons who have not fulfilled their legal obligation to leave the United States, or, in the opinion of an immigration officer, pose a threat to public or national security. ”

Experts say that almost every person who is in the country illegally is suitable for these descriptions, which makes it possible for immigration officers to decide who to detain for deportation.

Earlier, Trump said that illegal immigrants who were brought illegally into the country as a child are not his priority, and that he wants to focus on eliminating the “bad guys”. However, his government order will allow for the deportation of those suspected of having committed a crime, including misconduct, for the deportation.

"I think it covers almost every illegal immigrant in the country," said Hans von Spakovsky, a legal expert at the conservative Heritage Foundation.

Meanwhile, human rights advocates advise consulting immigration lawyers before leaving the United States.

Earlier withknownthat some holders of so-called green cards, giving the right to reside in the United States, also came under a temporary ban on entry into the United States, reported in the US Department of Homeland Security.
