Trump Called Putin and Zelensky: Everyone Was Satisfied with the Conversations

Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, they agreed that it was necessary to "start negotiations immediately." Moscow said that the conversation between the leaders of the two countries lasted an hour and a half, as a result of which they agreed to organize a personal meeting. Almost immediately after that, Trump also called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reports Air force.

Donald Trump was the first to report the conversation.

"I just had a long and very productive phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin," wrote He is on his social network Truth Social.

Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the conversation took place and lasted "almost an hour and a half."

According to Trump, the two leaders discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, “the strength of the dollar and many other topics.” Peskov also named topics such as prisoner exchanges, the Iranian nuclear program and cooperation between Russia and the United States.

“But first and foremost, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths in Russia’s war with Ukraine,” Trump wrote. They agreed, according to the US president, that their teams “will immediately begin negotiations” to end the war.

Peskov said that Putin, in response to Trump's words about possible peace with Ukraine, mentioned "the need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict" and agreed with Trump that a long-term settlement could be achieved through peace talks."

The Kremlin noted that Putin spoke about his readiness to receive American officials in Russia, including those who will deal with Ukraine. However, Peskov did not directly speak about the possible imminent start of negotiations.

Trump wrote that he would be calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "right now" to tell him about his conversation with Putin.

The negotiations on the American side will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

The Presidents of the United States and Russia agreed to continue personal contacts, including organizing a personal meeting.

Answering questions from reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said the first meeting with Putin would take place in Saudi Arabia.

"I want to thank President Putin for taking the time to have this conversation and for releasing Mark Fogel yesterday, a terrific man whom I personally welcomed to the White House last night. I believe our efforts will lead to a successful outcome, hopefully soon!" he added.

Shortly after his conversation with Putin, Trump, as promised, spoke with Volodymyr Zelensky. According to BBC correspondents, the conversation presumably lasted about an hour.

Zelensky confirmed on his Telegram channel that the conversation took place, but spoke about it in the most general terms.

"Just spoke with Donald Trump. Long conversation. About the possibility of achieving peace. About our readiness to work together at the team level. About our technological capabilities, in particular drones and other modern production. Grateful to President Trump for his interest in what we can do together," Zelensky wrote.

He reported that the head of the White House told him about the details of his conversation with Vladimir Putin.

"Ukraine wants peace more than anyone else. We are defining our common steps with America to stop Russian aggression and guarantee a reliable, lasting peace," the Ukrainian leader specified.

Donald Trump, for his part, noted that the conversation with Zelensky went “very well.”

"He, like President Putin, wants to make peace. We discussed many issues related to the war, but mainly the meeting that will take place on Friday in Munich, where Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the delegation. I hope the results of that meeting will be positive," Trump wrote.

Neither Zelensky nor Trump announced any terms of a peace agreement or preliminary agreements.
