Trump advises police officers to “not stand on ceremony” with apprehended criminals

US President Donald Trump, speaking to police officers in Long Island, New York, called on law enforcement officers to “not stand on ceremony” with detained criminals.

So, during his speech, Trump noted that police officers should not be too polite when they push criminals into a police van. “For example, when you guys are packing someone into the car, you protect their heads, hold them with your hands so they don't hit their head. And they just killed someone. And even if one of them hits their head, I'm telling you, you can take your hands off, okay?" Trump said.

Recently, the number of street gangs on Long Island has increased markedly. Donald Trump called their actions one of the main problems facing the authorities, saying that he could very quickly get rid of them.

“Together we will make our streets safe again and bring peace to our neighborhoods,” the US President said. “We will destroy the MS-13 crime cartel and many other gangs.”

“We will use the full power of our laws, protect our borders and support our police like we have never been supported before,” the head of the White House promised.

“To every gang member and criminal who threatens our people: we will find you, we will arrest you, we will put you in jail, and we will deport you,” Trump concluded.

Note that Trump repeatedly mentioned the MS-13 gang during his election speeches. This group operates in the USA, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. In 2012, President Obama's administration sanctioned MS-13 for the first time, officially designating it a "transnational criminal organization."

Gang called Mara salvatrucha, also known as MS-13, was created at the beginning of 1980's in Los Angeles by immigrants from El Salvador. Currently, according to the UN, in the countries of Central America at least 24 000 people are in the ranks of this group. The US Department of Justice believes that their number can reach 30 000. More than 10 000 of them operate in the United States.
