Trump decided to resort to Zelensky's election technology: what is its essence

President of the United States Donald Trump announced that he plans to take a drug test ahead of future debates and urged his opponent Joe Biden to do the same. Reported by with the BBC.

In 2019, a similar technology was already used at the headquarters of Vladimir Zelensky. When he was then a presidential candidate in Ukraine, he made a demand - to pass a drug test to his rival in the election race, Petro Poroshenko, before the debates at the stadium.

Why Donald Trump made such a statement

As Donald Trump himself said in an interview, he noticed a sharp change in the behavior of his opponent Joe Biden when he spoke at the debates of the Democratic Party.

Trump and Biden will meet in the campaign debate three times. The elections for the new US president will be held on November 3.

During the previous presidential race, Donald Trump had already offered his rival to take a drug test. Then Hillary Clinton competed with him. Her headquarters then declined the challenge.

Now the US president has simply echoed the old arguments, noting a "strange improvement" in the debating power of his opponent Joe Biden when he spoke to the audience.

“Well, this is a prize fight. It's no different than gladiators, except we have to use our brains and mouths. And our body must stand. I want everyone to stand, but they want to sit,” Donald Trump said about his readiness to stand on his feet during the televised debate.

Joe Biden's headquarters have not yet responded to an offer to take a drug test.

A similar situation with Vladimir Zelensky

The same demands on the eve of the debates were put forward in 2019 by the current President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. After the first round of elections, Petro Poroshenko challenged Vladimir to televised debates several times. In response, Zelensky recorded a video message in which he put forward a number of demands:

• the debate must take place at the stadium;
• candidates should definitely undergo medical examination - to prove that there is no alcohol or drugs in their blood.

“The country needs a healthy president,” Zelensky stressed then.

The current head of state was tested at the Eurolab clinic, which, by the way, belongs to businessman Andrei Palchevsky. Opponents of Vladimir at the time argued that Palchevsky supported Poroshenko's rival in those elections.

It is worth noting that Petro Poroshenko took the test at VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) and directly at the Olimpiyskiy NSC itself. Vladimir Zelensky did not consider it necessary to repeat the test.

Analyzes of Zelensky and Poroshenko did not reveal drugs in the organisms of politicians.
