US President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to increase “extremely thorough” screening of foreigners after the terrorist attack in New York that killed at least eight people, writes “Voice of America«.
“I have just instructed the internal security agencies to intensify the program of already extremely thorough checks. Political correctness is good, but not for such an occasion! ”, The president tweeted a few hours after the truck driver hit a group of people, causing the 8 people to die.
During the election campaign in 2016, Trump promised to strike at illegal immigration for security reasons. He also called for "extremely thorough" inspections of foreigners entering the United States.
Earlier, Trump announced the need to terminate the lottery of green cards as soon as possible (Diversity Visa), because it was thanks to this program that Saifullo Saipov received the right to reside in the USA.
This statement he made during the Cabinet meeting at the White House 1 November, reports CNN.
"Today I begin the process of ending the lottery Diversity Visa. I intend to ask Congress to immediately begin work on getting rid of this program. Diversity Visa - Cteach well, but there is nothing good about it. There was nothing good about it, and we were against it, ”the president said.
Trump added that will take all efforts to get rid of chain migration as soon as possible and transition to an immigration system based on merit.
