Trump criticized Obama for American special forces in Syria
Donald Trump harshly criticized Barack Obama’s decision to send special forces to 50 to Syria. Such a move the presidential candidate called a half-measure.
"I think we have a president who just doesn't know what he's doing," Trump told CNN. “You either do it or you don’t.”
At the same time, Trump did not want to say whether he would deploy additional troops in Syria if he became president.
The White House has decided to send to Syria first special forces fighters, but the military will not take part in the fighting. Their task is solely to consult and train the Syrian opposition, which is fighting against jihadists from the Islamic State.
The White House insists that sending military advisers to Syria does not contradict the stated US policy towards this country, which allows for support from the rebels from the air, but precludes a full-fledged ground operation.
According to the official representative of the administration of Barack Obama Josh Ernest, the United States will send less 50 special forces to the north of Syria, to the territory controlled by the Kurds.
“The President expects that they [Special Forces] can help strengthen our strategy to improve the position of local forces in the ground fight against the Islamic State in their country. This was a key element of the military component of our strategy,” Earnest said.
Billionaire Donald Trump for the first time in several months lost the lead in the race for the nomination of a US Republican presidential candidate. According to the results of the last sociological survey conducted by the New York Times and CBS News, in the first place ex-neurosurgeon Ben Carson came out.
