Trump canceled a meeting with Putin because of the conflict in the Kerch Strait

US President Donald Trump canceled a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was to be held in Argentina on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

The reason for the cancellation was the situation with the Ukrainian ships captured in the Kerch Strait, explained Trump in his microblog Twitter.

“Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided that it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin. I look forward to holding this significant summit again once this situation is resolved,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Kremlin was continuing to prepare for the meeting of the heads of state of Russia and the United States, since "no other information was received from American counterparts."

The G20 summit will begin in Argentina on November 30 - December 1. The parties did not specify on which day the meeting between the Russian and American presidents was to take place.

A few days earlier, Trump suggested he might cancel his meeting with Putin. He explained that he was awaiting a full report from his assistants on the situation in the Sea of ​​Azov, where Russia detained 24 military personnel, two armored boats and a Ukrainian Navy tug.

“Whether our conversation will take place largely depends on this report. Maybe not. I don't like this act of aggression. I don’t like it at all,” Trump said then.
