Trump postponed the deportation of immigrants in one of the programs
Donald Trump, who during the election campaign promised “Immediately stop” the controversial program to protect against deportation of more than 742 thousands of people illegally brought into the country as a child (DACA) decided to temporarily postpone its cancellation. The Trump administration continues to accept applications for 2-year work permits and provision of temporary protection against deportation under the DACA program created by former President Obama.
However, White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters on Monday that Trump will focus on deporting people who pose a threat to public safety. This is a continuation of the Obama administration’s policy of prioritizing deportations.
As previously wrote ForumDaily, WashingtonDC, Chicago Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York State have decided to create a fund to provide legal assistance to residents who are facing deportation in accordance with Donald Trump's immigration policy.
In this way, local governments can use public funds to challenge immigration policies pursued by the White House and the Republicans in Congress.
