Trump: no deals with Democrats until they stop investigating the election

US President Donald Trump 22 May told Democratic leaders that he would not work to reach a deal with them on common priorities, such as infrastructure and lowering the cost of drugs, until they abandon the investigation into his presidency.

In an unusual and unexpected speech in the Rose Garden, Trump said that he told Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer during a meeting at the White House that he could not continue discussing transactions while “false” Congressional investigations hung over his administration writes USA Today.

Trump spent about three minutes talking to Democratic leaders who gathered in the cabinet to discuss the infrastructure, giving them many of the same comments that he later made at a press conference. A source familiar with the details of the meeting, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told reporters about this. According to the source, the president did not shake hands with the legislators and did not sit down at the table, besides, he left before someone from the Democrats spoke.

Trump met with the Democrats three weeks after the unusual moment of bipartisan cooperation, when they agreed to spend 2 trillion dollars on infrastructure projects. However, the implementation plan for these investments has not yet been agreed.

A few hours before Pelosi and Sumer were expected at the White House, Trump on Twitter accused the Democrats of being so focused on investigating him that they were not achieving other results.
