American President Donald Trump has decided to cancel a Christmas event for media representatives at the White House. Thus, the head of the White House will break the tradition that was introduced by the 37th President Richard Nixon, who ruled in 1969-1974, writes “Today«.

However, in the light of his strained relations with news publications and even individual journalists, such a move is unlikely to surprise anyone.

This event differs from an ordinary press conference in that only the most respected “sharks of the pen” were invited to it. Before the actual reception with the president, a buffet with delicacies awaited them. And they were escorted into the decorated hall not just by an ordinary member of the administration, but by a spouse, a friend of the head of state, or a high-ranking member of the White House.

This event was so popular that in some years it took even two days - for print publications and TV channels.

However, under President Trump, the situation changed somewhat - last year, he and his wife Melania refused to take pictures with guests, confining themselves to a short speech.

So far, the White House has not officially commented on this information.
