Trump challenges Biden to 'anytime, anywhere' debate

Donald Trump has promised to debate US President Joe Biden “anytime, anywhere.” But at the same time, he refused to discuss with any of his opponents in the Republican primaries, reports Independent.

“For the good of our country, it is important that Joe Biden and I discuss the issues that are so important to America and the American people,” he wrote. Tramp on his social network Truth Social on March 6. “That’s why I encourage debate—anytime, anywhere!”

“I know Donald Trump craves attention and is struggling to broaden his appeal beyond his voter base. And we will have this conversation (debate) at the appropriate time,” Biden campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said on March 6.

“If he's so desperate to see President Biden on prime time, he doesn't have to wait! “He can join tens of millions of Americans who will watch the President’s State of the Union address tomorrow night,” he retorted.

Trump on March 6 promised to check the facts of all statements that Biden will make during his annual State of the Union address.

“I'm happy to tell you that we'll be covering Crooked Joe Biden's State of the Union address tomorrow night. "I will promptly correct any inaccurate statements, especially regarding the border and his use of the DOJ, FBI, AG and District Attorneys to go after his political opponent," a March 6 Truth Social post said.

Trump's remarks about Biden ranged from harsh criticism of his comments on immigration and the economy to general criticism of the president's performance, which Trump said had been "yelling" all night.

“He barely mentioned immigration or the worst border in the history of the world. He will never improve the immigration situation, and does not want to. He wants our country to be overrun with migrants. Crime is rising to levels never seen before, and it’s happening fast!” - Trump wrote.

Biden emphasized the differences between his campaign and Trump's, and condemned his policies on issues such as abortion, taxes and foreign affairs. The president referred to his opponent only as his “predecessor.”

Biden specifically criticized Trump for his recent attacks on NATO and accused him of "worshipping" Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump faced widespread backlash after saying he would "encourage" Russia to attack any country that does not meet NATO military spending requirements.

Trump responded to Biden's comments on Truth Social: "Putin only invaded Ukraine because he doesn't respect Biden. This would never have happened under the Trump administration, and it hasn’t happened in four years!”

The previous debate among politicians took place during the 2020 US presidential election. According to polls, Joe Biden performed better: 53% of voters said he won the final debate, and 39% considered Trump the winner.

White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre declined to say whether Biden would participate in any debates this year, citing federal law that prohibits federal employees from speaking out on election-related issues.
