Trader Joe's Recalls Products Due to Listeria: What You Need to Know
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalls several vegetable products grown and distributed by Growers Express, due to possible listeria infection. The products were sold in several retail chains, including Trader Joe's, Signature Farms and Green Giant Express, writes Food 52.
To date, there have been no reports that someone has been poisoned as a result of using Growers Express products.

The source of contamination was detected at the Growers Express plant in Biddeford, Maine. The FDA notes that “most infected products are labeled“ recommended for use ”from June 26 to June 29 of the year 2019. Infected products include sliced and packaged vegetables, such as cauliflower, diced butternut squash and zucchini, which were distributed to retailers in several states.
In the Trader Joe store, products were sold as Butternut Squash and Zucchini by Trader Joe. Other retailers sold them under the Signature Farms and Green Giant Express trademarks.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that causes the food poisoning listeriosis. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most healthy adults who become ill with listeria usually experience only short-term symptoms, including "high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea." Children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are at much greater risk. Infection can be fatal. Currently, there are approximately 260 listeria food poisoning deaths in the United States each year.

The FDA strongly encourages consumers to check out freshly purchased products and notes that Green Giant canned or frozen vegetables will not respond. If you find any products that you think are subject to recall, then make sure they are disposed of. If you purchased an infected product, you can contact Grower's Express for a full refund.
