Products from China will impose a duty in the US at 25%

The administration of President Donald Trump intends to continue the implementation of the decision to introduce 25% duty on goods from China, totaling about 50 billion dollars a year, and also to establish new restrictions on Chinese investments in high-tech industries in the United States.

Prior to this, the United States for a few days suspended a trade war with China, Washington and Beijing are negotiating, writes CNN.

Earlier, the Chinese authorities promised to take retaliatory measures if the United States imposes an 25% duty on Chinese goods.

In a brief statement from 29 in May, the White House clarified that the president plans to take "multiple steps" to protect domestic technologies and intellectual property from "discriminatory and burdensome trade practices on the part of China."

This step follows the March report of the US Trade Representative, which conducted a seven-month investigation into how China handles technology transfers and intellectual property.

“The United States will impose specific investment restrictions and strengthen export controls on Chinese individuals and entities involved in the acquisition of industrially significant technologies,” the White House statement said.

The final list of import objects for which new tariffs are being introduced will be announced before 15 June. The changes, according to the press service of the White House, will take effect "soon after that."

The proposed investment restrictions will be announced before June 30 and will take effect immediately after that.

Earlier, Washington and Beijing after mutual threats to raise duties signed an agreement on "trade balance".

The PRC agreed to "significantly increase" the import of American goods and services in order to achieve a balance; this was the main demand of the American delegation that arrived at the talks in Beijing.

This was supposed to stop the US from raising duties, but the White House’s statement on 29 in May, according to the Chinese side, was "a surprise and violation of previous agreements." In Beijing, the Americans were urged to abide by the agreement and stressed that in the event of non-compliance with them, “China has the desire, ability and experience in defending the interests of the Chinese people and the country's main national interests.”
