Iran threatens US with 'total war' in case of revenge for attack on Saudi Arabia
Any U.S. airstrikes on Iran from attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia will lead to a "total war". About it, as writes RBCIranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif said in an interview with CNN.
When asked by a journalist about “what the consequences might be if the United States or Saudi Arabia strike Iran,” the minister answered without hesitation: “Total war.”
“You have now made a very serious statement on this matter,” the journalist noted.
“Well, I am very serious about protecting our country,” Zarif retorted.
“You have another serious statement: we don’t want war. We do not want to be involved in a military confrontation. We are sure that a military conflict based on deception is terrible. We will suffer many casualties. But we will defend our territory,” Zarif said, adding that “in the past 250 years, Iran has never been the first to start any war.”
The diplomat emphasized that his country does not want a new war, in his opinion, the region in which Iran is located does not need a new military confrontation.
“We need dialogue, cooperation and building trust in this region,” the politician concluded.
On the night of September 14 in Saudi Arabia, an unmanned aerial vehicle attack occurred on the infrastructure of the Saudi Aramco oil company. As a result, fires occurred at two large fields of the company in Abkayk and Khurais. The Hussites from the Ansar Allah movement claimed responsibility for the attack.

Later in Washington, they said they discovered Iran’s involvement in the attack of drones. In particular, the US military discovered that unusual activity was recorded before the attack at military bases in southwestern Iran. Also, the discovered fragments of missiles made it possible to establish an approximate trajectory of their flight. The Pentagon believes that drones could be launched in Iran, and then circled the Persian Gulf from the north, entering for some time into Iraqi airspace.
Iran has denied any involvement in the attack on Saudi Aramco, and also stated that it will retaliate in the event of any U.S. action against the country.
Later, US President Donald Trump instructed the Ministry of Finance to strengthen sanctions against Iran.
