Experts have long noticed that the colder the winter, the stronger the allergic reaction in the spring.
Most often, allergies are caused by pollen of plants, in particular, trees. The main “culprit” of allergic reactions, which are expressed in the common cold, headache, watery eyes, - oak. Oak pollen, which is produced by male trees, becomes the main cause of allergies. Two other trees that deliver a lot of trouble to people sensitive to their pollen are birch and maple.
After a cold and long winter, the plants finally “woke up” and bloomed with a vengeance, and this violent bloom causes strong allergic reactions in people.
On the Internet there is a portal called pollen.com, where you can see the forecast on the amount of pollen in the air in the coming days. In the United States, high or very high levels of allergens are observed almost everywhere.
The amount of pollen in the air is rated on a scale of 1 to 12. In the coming week, experts predict that the numbers will vary for New York. On April 25, the city is expected to have a low pollen level in the air - 1,4 points, and from April 26 to 28 this figure will fluctuate from 8,6 to 11,4 points.
Doctors say that people suffering from severe allergic reactions should limit their stay in the fresh air. Experts also advise you to wear hats and, if possible, do not use lacquers and hair gels. These products turn hair into a magnet for pollen, which leads to particularly strong allergic reactions.
