Where does American money go: which countries does the US help the most?

Every year, the United States sends billions of dollars in aid to other countries to promote global stability, national security and economic interests of a particular country, writes Visual capitalist.

The list below shows the top 10 countries that received financial assistance from the United States in the 2022 fiscal year (it lasted from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022). These figures represent total disbursements, that is, the actual amounts provided by federal agencies in cash or cash equivalents.

All data was taken from government financial aid website as of May 2024. At the time of writing, the full fiscal year 2023 report was not yet available.

• Ukraine - $11,2 billion;
• Israel - $3,3 billion;
• Afghanistan - $1,9 billion;
• Ethiopia - $1,7 billion;
• Egypt - $1,4 billion;
• Yemen - $1,3 billion;
• Jordan - $1,1 billion;
• Yuzhny - $976 million;
• Nigeria - $974 million;
• Syria - $842 million.
