The presentation of the first humanoid robot in Russia was disrupted: it walked onto the stage and fell.
Russia's first humanoid robot with artificial intelligence was unveiled in Moscow. Although it was dubbed "Idol," it collapsed on stage during the presentation, writes Medusa.
The robot slowly walked onto the stage, accompanied by two people, to the tune of "Gonna Fly Now" from the film "Rocky." The idol attempted to wave his hand, but tipped over and fell. The presentation was immediately interrupted, and the robot was carried away.
National Technology Coalition leader Alexey Yuzhakov warned that the developers had underinvested in the "smart machine's" walking ability. Vladimir Vitukhin, founder and CEO of the developer company "Idol," noted that the problem arose because of the stereo cameras—they are sensitive to light, and the room was dark.

As reported by the Moscow news agency, Idol managed to stay on his feet during his second appearance on stage, with some assistance. Vladimir Vitukhin noted that the robot would be fine.
"This is exactly the kind of real-time learning where a successful mistake turns into knowledge, and a failure into experience. I hope this mistake turns into experience," the company's CEO concluded.
The developers explained that the robot "covers three key human functions: walking, manipulating objects, and communicating with people." All systems operate offline, with autonomous operation designed for a maximum of six hours. The exact AI system the developers are using is not specified.

According to the developers, lively facial expressions and emotional expressions are "the key differentiators of Idol from other global solutions." The robot's "face" can express 12 basic emotions, as well as "hundreds" of microexpressions.
The developers believe that such a "smart machine" could work in factories, logistics, and service areas—in banks, airports, or any public space.
