How to get a home flu vaccine
The nasal vaccine, called FluMist, currently requires a healthcare professional to administer it. However, since nearly everyone between the ages of two and 49 is eligible, FluMist's manufacturer, AstraZeneca, has created a telemedicine website that combines physician approval with online pharmacy ordering. The process, they say, takes about five minutes.

The site allows you to add multiple people to a single order, so you can fill out a form for each child, indicating their name, age, allergies, and other information.
The website retrieves information from a cloud database and informs you that it already knows your insurance details. It then issues a small bill, less than $10, for the doctor's assessment and delivery. The cost of the vaccine itself is covered by your insurance.
Who can use the home flu vaccine?
Home vaccine is the same FluMist, approved for people aged two to 49. This means infants and older adults still need to see a doctor for the regular injectable flu vaccine. Children can be vaccinated starting at six months.
FluMist contains a live, but weakened, virus. It doesn't cause true influenza, but it can trigger mild flu-like symptoms in people with weakened immune systems. Therefore, it is not recommended for pregnant women, people with certain medical conditions, people with weakened immune systems, or those in close contact with such people. If this is your case, discuss the best option with your doctor. They may recommend a regular injectable vaccine, which doesn't contain a live virus.
How to administer a home flu vaccine
The instructions state that the vaccine package will be delivered on the selected day. It will be sent in a thermal package with cooling elements and should be refrigerated immediately upon receipt. Additionally, there will be a tag that can be scanned to verify that the vaccine remained at the correct temperature during delivery.

If everything went as planned, simply follow the instructions and spray the vaccine into your nose. (If you've already received FluMist at a pharmacy, the principle is the same.)
