ITT Tech Technical Institute closes all branches in US 38

The extensive network of American commercial universities ITT Tech announced the closure of all of its branches, which are located in 38 states. The university manager ITT Educational Services, headquartered in Indiana, said the reason for such a move was the recent ban by the US Department of Education to accept new students who receive federal education loans.

More than 35 thousands of people prepared for the start of classes at 130 with more branches of ITT Tech in September, more than 8 thousands of employees lost their jobs. However, those who entered the university or decided to leave it in the last 120 days will be given the right to choose. They will either be able to apply for cancellation of loans for education at the ITT, or use their funds for training at another university.

According to Ted Mitchell, Deputy Minister of Education of the United States, all students were sent an e-mail message about the closure of branches of the university and possible solutions to the situation with loans.

Educational institutions located near ITT branches were recommended to be flexible in their approach to the issue of admitting former ITT students to study now and transferring funds from federal loans for studying at a new university.

ITT Educational Services, which ran universities, said they would do everything possible to help students get all the necessary documents and continue their education in other institutions.

Last year, ITT Tech reported revenue totaled $ 850 million.

The audit of the university revealed omissions that are associated with the basic standards of training and which, according to the attestation commission, could not be brought back to normal in the near future.

In addition to the ban on the admission of new students who receive federal assistance, the US Department of Education has forbidden ITT to raise salaries or issue bonuses to their top managers.
