During a joint press conference in Helsinki, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a football match to US President Donald Trump, metaphorically stating that “the ball is now on the side” of the United States.

“Mr. President just said that we finished and successfully held the World Cup. I want to pass this ball to the president, now the ball is on his side. Moreover, the United States will have to hold the 2026 world championship of the year, ”Putin said, handing a gift, writes RT with reference to Fox News.

The US President then tossed the ball to his wife Melania and noted that it would go to his son Barron. Melania did not catch the ball - it was picked up from the floor and given to the first lady by the people sitting next to her.

The gift, however, was not all happy. Some have suggested that Putin handed the ball to Trump in pursuit of hostile goals, writes Fox News.

A senior US senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham wrote on Twitter that if he was in the president's seat, "he would check the ball for listening devices and would never take it with him to the White House." He was supported by the former White House press secretary, Ari Fleisher.
