TV channel RTVI brightly celebrated its 18 anniversary in New York

On September 30, RTVI celebrated its 18 anniversary at the New York National Arts Club. During the event, the team of the channel told what it was possible to achieve since the restart in 2017, and what RTVI is today.

RTVI became a pioneer in the field of foreign broadcasting in Russian, and at the moment it is no longer just a TV channel, but a multiplatform media.

Despite the long history, today the values ​​of the channel have not changed: objectivity and impartiality, reliability and professionalism.

In 2017, under the leadership of Alexey Pivovarov, the new editor-in-chief, RTVI was completely restarted and switched to a new broadcasting network to meet all the challenges of the digital world. Everything valuable from popular projects was saved, but they themselves changed the form.

The concept of the new RTVI is reflected in the slogan “On both sides”. The lack of censorship and the presentation of all opinions make RTVI a unique platform for discussions on any current issues on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to editorial centers in New York and Moscow, there are correspondent offices in Berlin and Tel Aviv and a network of journalists all over the world.

According to Ekaterina Kotrikadze, head of RTVI office in New York, over the past 5 months, the site’s monthly audience has grown from 500 thousand to 2 million unique users per month, and the monthly audience of all media (including social networks) is 16,3 countries around the world.

On September 30, at the channel’s birthday party, the guests were regular heroes of RTVI broadcasts - political scientists Nina Khrushchev, Alexander Goldfarb, economist Jonas Schaende, professor at Columbia University Ann Cooper. Mayor of the city of New York Bill de Blasio sent his congratulations to the TV channel and the editorial staff, especially emphasizing the contribution of RTVI to the unification of the Russian-speaking diaspora in all five districts of New York.

The evening was opened by such prominent politicians as the Republican Martin Golden, the senator from the state of New York, and the democrat Stephen Simbrovits, a member of the Assembly of the State of New York.
