Netherlands customs intercepted 3000 Russian vodka crates for Kim Jong-un

The customs of the Port of Rotterdam intercepted a container with three thousand boxes of Russian vodka. According to the Dutch authorities, they wanted to send her to the DPRK for Kim Jong-un and army leaders, bypassing UN sanctions. This writes the publication Algemeen Dagblad.

At the beginning of last week, a container was found aboard a Chinese container ship, the Nebula, which was supposed to deliver cargo from Russia via Hamburg and Rotterdam to China. When the customs officers came to pick up the vodka, it turned out that the container was hid under the fuselage of the aircraft on board the ship, writes Rain.

Sigrid Kag, the Minister of Commerce of the Netherlands, said that, according to the ministry, the goods should have been sent not to China, but to North Korea. He recalled that UN Security Council sanctions prohibit the supply to the DPRK of luxury goods, including alcohol, so the customs and intercepted the goods.

Judging by the photos, Stolbovaya vodka was in the container. The head of the manufacturing company Niva, Timofey Urban, told The Moscow Times that he had learned about the incident from Dutch newspapers and was “shocked.” He confirmed that a few weeks ago vodka was delivered to Hamburg from St. Petersburg and loaded onto a Chinese vessel. However, according to him, the company supplies vodka "to different countries of the world, including South Korea, but never to North Korea."

Earlier, the media suspected Russian companies in the transfer of DPRK fuel to bypass sanctions. The USA for such violations included several companies and Russian citizens in the sanctions list.

Kim Jong-un 26 February arrived in Vietnam on the second negotiations with US President Donald Trump to be held on February 27-28.

Recall today it became known that the Russian tanker violated international trade sanctions by transferring fuel to the North Korean ship at sea at least four times from October 2017 of the year to May 2018 of the year, two crew members told Reutersthat were on board at the time. Such transactions could provide economic support for North Korea and ease the isolation of the communist state.
