Super Tuesday: Clinton and Trump Lead, and Rubio Dropped
Во второй «супервторник» в США прошли предварительные партийные выборы в пяти крупных штатах: Северная Каролина, Огайо, Флорида, Миссури.
The population of five states is 20 percent of the population of the entire country. Therefore, the results of the second super Satnik are so important.
Clinton won in key states - Florida, Ohio and Illinois, as well as in North Carolina.
В штате Миссури подсчитаны почти все голоса, разница между Клинтон и Сандерсом составляет две десятые процента — 49,6 против 49,4.
Donald Trump also won a landslide victory in Florida, North Carolina and Illinois. With a slight advantage, he leads in Missouri.
But the defeat of John Kasich in Ohio gives hope to the Republican traditionalists, who are outraged by Trump’s candidacy, and who hope that the construction magnate can still be stopped during the struggle at the congress itself.
“The campaign continues,” Kesyk announced at a rally dedicated to his victory.
Флорида и Огайо – два особенно важных штата для кандидатов-республиканцев, поскольку победивший в них кандидат получает голоса, соответственно — 99 и 66 делегатов национальной конвенции.
The convention will be held in July and will elect a Republican presidential candidate.
Rubio leaves
Another Republican candidate, Marco Rubio, who hoped to win in Florida because he is a senator from this state, lost at home and announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.
Announcing the end of his campaign, Rubio congratulated Trump on his victory and said that the United States is now at the center of a political storm, and American voters are angry and frustrated.
Thus, the Republicans have only three potential presidential candidates: Trump, Casick and Texas senator Ted Cruz.
Trump's convincing victories in large states cause concern in the Republican Party, since many of its leadership members disagree with the policy and tone of their spokesperson.
Clinton, speaking in Florida, gave an optimistic speech and reprimanded Donald Trump, saying that Americans are starving for politicians who are able to make decisions.
Among the problems she intends to tackle, Clinton called student debts, too expensive child care and general inequality.
Her rival, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, assured his supporters in Arizona, where the primaries will be held on Tuesday that he will continue his campaign, the success of which, he said, has already exceeded all expectations.
A week ago, Sanders won an unexpected victory in Michigan.
In the Democratic candidate contest, a Florida victory gives 246 delegates votes, Illinois 156, and Ohio 143.
