The court released documents in the Epstein sex crimes case: the names of Clinton and Prince Andrew surfaced

On January 3, hundreds of pages of documents were made public in the lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein, accused of trafficking in sexual services and relationships with underage girls. More evidence and big names are expected in the coming weeks, reports CNN.

Jeffrey Epstein, a prominent financier and close friend of the 42nd and 45th US Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, was arrested in July 2019 on charges of human trafficking. The case involved 40 underage girls who were brought to the financier’s estate from 2002 to 2005.

In August 2019, Epstein was found dead in his cell, where he was awaiting trial on charges of luring underage girls into prostitution. He faced up to 45 years in prison.

All materials in the case will include about 200 names, including some of Epstein's accusers, famous businessmen, politicians and others.

Trump, Clinton and Prince Andrew

The first batch of documents did not appear to contain any major revelations. Much of the information they contain has already been made public through media reports and other legal proceedings. But this is the first time that documents filed in court have made their way through the legal system.

"She has consistently and resolutely maintained her innocence," Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyers said on January 3.

The youngest daughter of British media mogul Lord Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine, was sentenced in 2021 to 20 years in prison for aiding Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sex trafficking.

The documents contain excerpts from depositions by Maxwell and Virginia Roberts Giuffre. There is, among other things, testimony from Joanna Sjoberg, who described how Prince Andrew jokingly touched her breasts while being photographed.

Sjoberg's story has become public knowledge, but this is the first time her testimony has been revealed in the legal system. Sometimes, according to the plaintiff, she worked for Epstein, who forced her to give sexual massages.

Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre have reached an out-of-court settlement of the sexual assault claim against him, according to a court document filed by her lawyers on January 2. Andrew denied the accusations made against him.

As previously reported, the deposition transcripts include references to several famous names, including Prince Andrew as well as Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States.

Sjoberg said in a 2016 deposition that Epstein talked to her about Bill Clinton.

“He once said Clinton liked young people, meaning girls,” she noted.

When asked if Clinton was Epstein's friend, Sjoberg said it was her understanding that Epstein had a "business relationship" with Clinton.

In 2019, a spokesman for the 42nd president confirmed that Clinton had flown on Epstein's private jet, but said he had no knowledge of the financier's "heinous crimes."

A spokesman for the 42nd president said on Jan. 3 that "it has been nearly 20 years since President Clinton was last in contact with Epstein." Clinton has not been accused of any crimes or offenses related to Epstein.

In her testimony, Joanna Sjoberg recalled how she was with Epstein on one of his planes and the pilots told them they needed to land in Atlantic City. Epstein then suggested they contact Donald Trump.

“Jeffrey then said, 'Great, we'll call Trump and go to the casino,' I don't remember the name of it,” Sjoberg said.

She later said in a deposition that she never gave Trump a massage. The documents do not accuse Trump of wrongdoing related to Epstein.

Giuffre alleged in her testimony that Maxwell encouraged her to have sexual encounters with people including former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Prince Andrew, tech guru Marvin Minsky, famous French modeling agency head Jean-Luc Brunel and American investor Glenn Dubin.

A spokesman for Dubin said in 2019 that "Glenn and Eva Dubin are outraged by the allegations against them in unsealed court records and categorically deny them." At the time, this statement was widely covered, including in the Washington Post, Hill and Vanity Fair.

The same portion of the testimony still includes three unnamed people whose names were not released on January 3. Giuffre claims that Maxwell persuaded her to have sexual relations with an “unnamed prince,” “the owner of a large hotel chain,” and one other person.

It is unclear from the document whether Giuffre subsequently had sexual contact with any of the people named.

Other records disclosed are legal motions filed by attorneys.

The documents represent a settled case brought by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, an American who alleged Epstein sexually abused her when she was a minor and that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's ex-girlfriend, assisted in that abuse.

Many of the alleged victims and accomplices have given public interviews and have already been mentioned in the media. Some victims' names remain redacted due to the sensitive nature of the crimes, according to court records.
