Michigan court ordered to stop the recount in the US presidential election

The Michigan Court of Appeal ordered the State Election Commission to reject the request of the US presidential candidate from the Green Party, Jill Stein, to recount the votes cast by voters in the US presidential election.

The court ruled that Stein, who received about 1% of the vote, is not a disadvantaged party and therefore has no reason to seek a revision of the election results, reports Associated Press.

This decision was made the next day after district judge Mark Goldsmith ordered an immediate recount of approximately 4,8 million ballots across the state, 8 districts had already begun a recount.

In Michigan, the Republican candidate Donald Trump, who now has the status of an elected US president, won the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by a margin of 10,7 thousand votes, this state gives the 16 electoral votes.

In Pennsylvania, where Stein also demanded a recount, the matter will be considered by the court on Friday, December 9. Earlier, the commission published an update, according to which Trump's leadership in this state was reduced to 44 thousands of votes. In total, more than 6 million votes were cast on the staff. If the gap between candidates is reduced to 0,5%, then the recalculation procedure will be started automatically. The state delegates 20 electors.

In Wisconsin, where the recount is taking place, Trump managed to consolidate his leadership somewhat. Following the recount, he received an additional 23 vote in 72 from 105 state districts, while Clinton, on the contrary, lost 41 vote, the state gives 10 electoral votes.

Presidential elections were held on November 8. According to the latest data, Trump won 306 electoral votes, while 270 is necessary for victory. Clinton scored 232 voices. At the same time, approximately one million more voters voted for her.

The electoral voting procedure will take place on December 19.
