The shooting at the University of Nevada was carried out by a professor who was not hired there
As reported by ABC News According to law enforcement sources, the deceased suspect in the shooting at the University of Nevada (UNLV) in Las Vegas is 67-year-old Anthony Polito.

According to sources, Polito applied for a position as a college professor at UNLV, but was not hired there. Previously, he worked as a professor in North Carolina and Georgia.
Three people were killed and one was injured in as a result of the shooting committed by Anthony Polito.

Polito was armed with a handgun during the Dec. 6 attack. According to police, he was killed in a shootout with two police officers who arrived at the scene.
A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation said a search was currently underway at an apartment in Henderson, Nevada, believed to be the shooter's home. Detectives have recovered the suspect's phone and are now examining its contents for clues as to what motivated the killer to carry out the attack.
Police are reviewing the arrest records to determine if anything in the texts could shed light on events that occurred on the UNLV campus.

Investigators determined that those killed were not students, but teachers or staff. This leads detectives to believe that the attack may not have been random, but targeted certain people because of some previous relationship or interaction.
According to preliminary investigations, the shooter opened fire on the police, which forced them to shoot him.
