Shooting at Oregon supermarket leaves several dead

At least two people were killed in a shooting at a Safeway grocery store in Bend, Oregon, on the evening of August 28, reports FoxNews.

Officers responded to reports of an active shooter at a store in northeast Bend shortly after 19 p.m., Bend Police Department spokeswoman Sheila Miller said.

The shooter entered the parking lot of the Forum Mall from a residential area behind the shops, Police Chief Mike Kranz said at a press conference. The suspect opened fire in the parking lot with an AR-15 rifle. Police said no one was hurt in the parking lot.

An armed man then entered the store and shot the man in front of the store.

The shooter continued walking through the store and shot the second person.

The suspect was still shooting when officers arrived at the scene. After that, the police found the suspect dead. According to Krantz, the officers did not fire.

According to Krantz, police found an AR-15 type rifle and a shotgun found near the suspect's body. He said there was no evidence of a second shooter.

Police have not yet identified the suspect or the victims.

Krantz said the investigation is still active. Police are working to obtain search warrants for residences in the area.

The officers received reports of other possible skirmishes in the area, but found no evidence of any additional incidents.
