Terrible death: Alabama airport worker sucked into plane engine
A member of the ground crew of an airline operating at Montgomery Airport (Alabama) died on December 31 in the afternoon as a result of an accident at the facility, reports CBS.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said in a statement that a member of ground support personnel was "sucked into the engine" of the aircraft while it was parked at the gate with the parking brake applied.
On January 1, the NTSB said it had launched an investigation into the incident.

A statement from Montgomery Regional Airport said an American Airlines/Piedmont Airlines employee died in an "industrial accident" around 15 p.m.
“We are saddened by the tragic death of an AA/Piedmont Airlines team member,” airport chief executive Wade Davis said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”

The airport said on Twitter that normal operations resumed at 20:30. An FAA investigation into the incident is ongoing.
