Stephen King and Elon Musk clashed again on Twitter: this time they argued over aid to Ukraine
The long-standing confrontation between the famous American writer Stephen King and billionaire Elon Musk on Twitter has continued. This time the topic for tweets was helping Ukraine.
King invited the owner of Twitter to list to the charitable foundation of Sergei Prytula money, which are spent on the blue checkmark for verifying the writer's page on the social network.
The Foundation of Serhiy Prytula, a Ukrainian actor and TV presenter known for his social activities and charity in Ukraine, takes care of strengthening the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as well as helping the civilian population affected by Russian aggression.

“I think Musk should give my blue tick to charity. I recommend the Pritula Foundation, which provides life-saving services in Ukraine. It's only $8, so maybe Musk could add a little more of his own,” King wrote on Twitter.

“I donated $100 million to Ukraine, how much did you donate?” — Musk wrote in response to Stephen King.
I've donated $100M to Ukraine, how much have you donated?

In his reply to King, Musk also retweeted a message from Ukraine’s Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov dated October 24, 2022, in which Fedorov thanked Musk for funding Starlink’s satellite internet terminals in Ukraine. Musk's SpaceX company provided them to Kyiv at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, reports NV.

Last fall, after Musk acquired Twitter, the platform introduced the ability to purchase the blue checkmark previously given to verify an account for free for $8.
King previously noted that he retained his blue checkmark for account verification despite not asking for it. Musk soon responded that he had paid for King's "verification" himself.
Confrontation History
Last October, Musk officially took control of Twitter, a site with more than 237 million daily active users that has historically struggled to monetize its content despite its significant impact on public discourse.

Back then, amid rumors that Twitter might soon start charging verified users a monthly fee for blue ticks next to their name, Stephen King wrote: “$20 a month to keep my checkmark? Damn it, they should be paying me. If this measure is introduced, then I will leave, like Enron. King was referring to the situation when the bankrupt energy company Enron left the market at one time.
Responding to King's tweet, Musk said: “We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?”
The writer actively supports Ukraine from the very beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. At the end of February 2022, King announced that he would not renew book contracts with Russia, and was also photographed wearing a T-shirt with the words “I support Ukraine.”
