Stanford launches scholarship program for Ukrainians

One of the most famous universities in the world - Stanford - announced a special scholarship program for Ukrainians.

It is called The Ukrainian Emerging Leaders ProgramWhile this is a pilot project, if it becomes successful, the program will work on a permanent basis.

Applications for participation in the program are accepted before 15 February 2017, the university will announce the results in April 2017.

Of all applicants, 3 participants will be selected, who will travel to Silicon Valley for the 10-month course in September of the 2017 year.

Each participant is entitled to a scholarship of $ 70 thousand, in addition, the university covers the costs of relocation. The program was sponsored by the Western NIS Enterprise Fund, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk and Tomas Fiala.

As part of the program, the fellows will be able to choose any courses, they will be able to design the curriculum themselves, will get to know and work with other organizations throughout the university campus and throughout the Valley, and develop their own projects.

The program is aimed primarily at reformers, politicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs and creators of social projects, leaders of public organizations.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Ukrainian citizenship and plans to return to Ukraine after the end of the program;
• age not younger than 28 years;
• outstanding achievements in the fields of democracy, development and the rule of law;
• At least 5 years of experience;
• working level of English.

Candidates who study at other universities in the full-time department are not suitable.
