11 million illegal immigrants in the USA: where they came from, how much they earn and what language they speak

The Migration Policy Institute analyzed data from the US Census Bureau and collected data on the number of illegal immigrants in the USA and basic information about them. This is written on the site Institute of Migration Policy.

The total number of illegal immigrants in the United States amounted to 11,3 million people, which was taken as 100%.

Most immigrants came from Mexico, almost 6 million (53%), in second place El Salvador - 6% (655 thousand), 3 place in Guatemala - 5% (525 thousand), and China divided into fourth and fifth in 3% Honduras (362 thousand and 365 thousand, respectively).

Mexico and Central America (67%) - almost 6 million, Asia - 16%, almost 2 million, South America, Europe and Canada (5-6%) - about 600 thousand and Africa with the Caribbean (3 %) - about 350 thousand.

The years lived in the USA were divided almost equally: 5% lived in the States for less than 18 years, which amounted to a little more than 2 million people, from 5 to 9 - 2 million (246%), 20% spent 10-14 years in the USA ( 24 million), almost 2,722 million immigrants live in the United States from 15 to 19 years, which is equal to 2%, and 17 million people, which is 20%, spent more than 2,387 years in the United States.

In the age category, the largest number of immigrants is from 25 to 45 years, and least of all are younger than 16 years, there are only 7% of them (803 thousand). From 16 to 24 years - 15% (a little more than 1,5 million), 25-34 - 26% (almost 3 million), from 35 to 44 years - 25% (also almost 3 million), from 45 to 54 years - 15% (1,725 million) and older than 50 - 12% (1,346 million).

By gender, 47% of immigrant women and, accordingly, 53% of men live in the USA.

An analysis of family status was also carried out, all immigrants older than 15 years participated in it, which amounted to 10,636 million, which were taken as 100%.

Of these, almost half were never married, namely 40% (4,276 million), were married to a US citizen - 12% (1,247 million), were married to a legal immigrant - 7% (746 thousand), were married with a non-US citizen - 21% (2,285 million) and divorced, widowed or separated - 20% (2,082 million).

Another criterion was education in language proficiency.

Immigrants aged 100 to 3 years were taken as 17%, which amounted to a little more than 1 million. Of these, 92% (1,002) received an education, and 8% (90 thousand) were left without it.

If we consider by age categories, then from the age of 3 to 12 years - 88% study when 12% percent do not receive education (385 thousand and 53 thousand, respectively).

At the age of 13 to 17, this criterion was distributed 94% to 6% - 617 thousand and 38 thousand.

And from 18 to 24 years - 37% were educated (almost 500 thousand), and 63% were left without it (828 thousand).

8,844 million adults (over 25) also have varying degrees of education. The maximum completed 5th grade - 13% (1,138 million), 6-8th grade - 18% (one and a half million), 9-12th grade - 6% (1,422 million). 25% (2,182 million) have a higher education diploma, 13% (1,178 million) have a postgraduate degree, and 15% (1,368 million) have an academic degree.

Among the population older than 5, fly speak exclusively English 9% (1,063 million), speak English very well - 27% (almost 3 million), speak good English - 20% (2,281 million) and speak English poorly or do not speak - 44% (almost 5 million).

Among the communication languages ​​that immigrants communicate at home, there were: Spanish - 71% (almost 8 million), English - 10% (1,069 million), Chinese - 3% (371 thousand), Tagalog - 2% (247 thousand) and Korean - 1% (152 thousand).

The Institute for Migration Policy also analyzed the number of working immigrants and their income level.

Immigrants over 16 years of age took part in the analysis. Of these, 67% are employed (7 million), 5% are unemployed (546 thousand) and 28% cannot work for health reasons or other reasons (almost 3 million).

Most of the immigrants work in the service and entertainment sector - 19% (1,364 million), the construction sector - 17% (1,194 million) came in second, scientific and administrative services (15%, 1,069 million) came in third, production takes fourth place - 13% (939 thousand) and in 5 place - retail trade (11%, 737 thousand).

By income level, 12% (1,351 million) have 50% of the federal poverty level, 16% (1,828 million) have 50-99% of the federal poverty level, 17% (1,868 million) have 100-149%, 1,682 million (15% ) receive 150-199 percent of the federal poverty level and 40% receive 200 percent or more of the federal poverty level.

53% (almost 6 million) of illegal immigrants do not have health insurance, and 34% (3,799 million) own real estate.
