The United States imposed sanctions against Ramzan Kadyrov: he responded with a photograph with machine guns

The US State Department included the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on the "black list" and imposed sanctions against him. The corresponding statement by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is published on the agency’s website, writes "Rain".

The statement said that the US State Department has extensive data to say that Kadyrov has been responsible for human rights violations, torture, and extrajudicial killings over the past ten years.

Blacklisting means a ban on entering the United States. Prior to that, Kadyrov had already been included in the US Treasury Department's sanctions list, which prohibits him from having assets in the country.

Sanctions are also being introduced against Kadyrov’s wife Medni and his daughters Aishat and Karina.

“We will urge countries that have the same views (like the US) to take similar measures,” the statement said.

Kadyrov, in response to Pompeo’s statement about the introduction of new sanctions, said that he was “taking the fight” and posted a photo with a firearm, writes TASS.

“Pompeo, we accept the battle! It will be more interesting further!” Kadyrov wrote on Telegram.

Kadyrov also attached to the post a photo from the weapons room, where he is holding two light machine guns.

Pompeo said earlier that the United States is imposing visa sanctions on the head of Chechnya, whom Washington considers implicated in human rights violations.

The United States has previously imposed sanctions against Kadyrov. On December 20, 2017, the US Treasury added the head of Chechnya to the “Magnitsky list,” whom the American administration accused of involvement in “extrajudicial killings, torture and other gross violations of internationally recognized human rights.”

Also, other representatives of the leadership and security agencies of Chechnya were repeatedly included in the sanctions lists.

On July 15, the United States imposed sanctions against three people and five companies associated with businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin. According to the states, they helped Prigozhin evade US sanctions and interfere in the politics of African countries.
