The United States lifted the ban on civil aviation flights over the south and east of Ukraine

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has lifted the ban for US airlines and their partners on flights to the airports of Dnepr, Zaporozhye and Kharkov, as well as in the controlled part of the airspace of Ukraine over the Black Sea.

This is stated in the press service. Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The decision to lift the ban of the FAA was made after the recent visit of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Vladimir Omelyan.

The FAA solution allows American aircraft to fly to the airports of Dnipro, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv, as well as use four routes in the western part of the Simferopol region, which are under the responsibility of Ukraine. These routes are with special flight planning and execution conditions introduced by Ukraine in August 2015 to ensure an adequate level of flight safety in international airspace over the open sea in the light of the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

The FAA ban was first introduced in April 2014 after the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation and a unilateral declaration by the Kremlin of its right to serve air traffic within the Simferopol region. However, neither the International Civil Aviation Organization, nor the world aviation community supported these actions of Russia, recognizing Ukraerorukh as the only legitimate provider of air navigation services in the area. The FAA ban was updated and expanded after the crash of the MH17 flight in July 2014.

The document covered all US air carriers, US commercial operators, as well as persons having a certificate of a United States pilot.
