US plans to punish countries whose citizens violate the visa regime
In 2017, 1,72% of Russian citizens violated the rules for staying in the United States, and this is the smallest percentage among residents of the former CIS countries. For example, Ukrainians violated the regime in 2,4% of cases, Belarusians - in 4,1%, and citizens of Georgia - in 10,72%.
The White House is discussing the possibility of tightening visa policy in relation to the states whose citizens most often illegally remain in the United States, violating the terms of stay, writes Voice of America.
Newspaper The Wall Street Journal published material according to which the restrictions may affect the state, whose citizens who have received business and tourist visas in the United States (category B1 / B2), especially often violate the terms of their stay on American territory.
For these states, they are considering the possibility of reducing the length of stay of their citizens in the United States, complicating the process of obtaining American visas, as well as increasing fees.

The Politico publication, citing the US Department of Homeland Security, announced that the new rules could be introduced by presidential decree.
According to statistics from the US Department of Homeland Security for 2017 year (the latest available data), the length of stay violated 0,35% of visitors from countries with which the United States has a visa-free regime.
For citizens of countries that require a visa to visit the United States, this figure is 1,86%.
For students or foreigners who came to the United States on exchange programs - 3,73%.

- 3,27% - Kazakhstan,

- 9,10% - Turkmenistan
- 6,68% of citizens of Uzbekistan.
Most visa violators arrived in the United States from Africa and the Middle East. In particular, for Djibouti, the level of violations is almost 44%, for Yemen - more than 28%, for Syria - more than 17%.
