The demand for Zika virus tests has doubled compared with the previous month and continues to grow. In this regard, private commercial laboratories obtained emergency permission to conduct tests.

But this does not mean that the test can take anyone. According to the rules of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, pregnant women and people with severe symptoms of the disease will be the first to be analyzed.

Government health experts say that restrictions are necessary so that people most at risk have access to testing.

Public health officials in Florida said they are receiving a lot of requests and questions from women who are just trying to get pregnant. Doctors recommend that they refrain from traveling to areas where cases of Zika virus infection have already been recorded. Well, if a woman has visited such a region, then before planning a pregnancy, she must wait 8 weeks - that’s how long the incubation period lasts.

Recall that the US Food and Drug Administration recently issued recommendations that all donor blood in America be tested for the presence of Zika virus. According to management data, tests for the virus are already being conducted in Florida and Puerto Rico. According to the May data, almost 300 pregnant women in the US are infected with Zika virus. It is dangerous because it is associated with serious congenital malformations, including microcephaly in newborns.

Florida became the first state in the United States, which was recorded virus spread Zika. On July 29, Governor Rick Scott reported that this zone is located in Wynwood, Miami-Dade County, north of downtown Miami.
