Trump's adviser said Russia intervened in Mexico’s presidential election

US Presidential National Security Adviser Lieutenant General Herbert McMaster announced “the first signs of Russian interference in the upcoming presidential elections in Mexico.” According to McMaster, Russia also interfered in the referendum on Catalan independence.

Russia's intervention in the US election

Russiagate is currently underway in the United States, an investigation into alleged Russian interference in the elections won by Donald Trump.

The investigation concerns suspicions that Moscow tried to influence the outcome of the US presidential election - in particular, it organized cyberattacks in order to use compromising information to discredit Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party as a whole.

As a result of the investigation, national security adviser Mike Flynn, who had been in his chair for only 25 days, as well as FBI Director James Komi, were dismissed. Charges of false testimony by the FBI have been brought against Trump's former adviser on international politics, George Papadopoulos. Russia categorically denies all accusations of election interference. President Vladimir Putin calls the accusations "invented to delegitimize President Trump."
