Russian consulate employee earned $ 120 thousand selling stolen bicycles
An employee of the Russian consulate in Strasbourg is suspected of stealing bicycles and their resale in the amount of more than 100 thousand euros (almost 120 thousand dollars), reports "Present".

In February he was detained, but left for Russia for health reasons.
The investigation began after an electric bike was stolen from the former first deputy mayor of the city Alain Fontanel in early February near the building of the French representation of the Council of Europe.
A few days later, Fontanel discovered his missing property on the classifieds site Leboncoin, where the bike was being sold at half price.
The official reported this to the police, and law enforcement officials made an appointment with the seller.
The meeting took place in front of the entrance to the Russian consulate.
The police detained a 40-year-old man who turned out to be the driver of a Russian diplomat. He has resold over 300 stolen bicycles through the classifieds site.

The suspect was taken into custody, but soon released as he had diplomatic immunity.
When they wanted to summon him for interrogation, the embassy replied that he had returned to Russia due to health problems.
The Russian consulate replied to reporters that it would not comment on this case, so as not to disclose the personal data of the suspect.
