The vocalist of the British electronic band The Prodigy Keith Flint committed suicide, the founder of The Prodigy Liam Howlett told about it on the official page of the band in Istagram.

"I can't believe what I'm saying, but our brother Keith committed suicide this weekend," he was quoted as saying. Air force post on social network.

Earlier it was reported that 49-year-old Keith Flint was found dead in his house in Essex, east of London.

The Essex police reported that no signs of violent death of the musician were found.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter will be referred to the coroner,” police said at the time. The Coroners Court in Britain investigates unusual and unexpected deaths.

Keith Flint has been part of The Prodigy since the band’s founding in 1990. At first he was a dancer, and in 1996, he made his debut as a vocalist with the track Firestarter from the album The Fat of the Land.

The musician recently returned from an Australian tour. In May, he was scheduled to tour the United States. In July, 2019, The Prodigy were to perform at the Park Live festival in Moscow.

In September 1997, the group gave a concert on Red Square in Moscow, which according to various estimates visited from 100 thousand to 250 thousand people.

Flint was born and spent the first years of life in London. In the middle of 1970's, he moved with his parents to Essex. At the end of 1980, he met DJ Liam Howlett, who became the creator of the band. The peak of popularity of The Prodigy came in the middle of the 1990's.

Albums of the group many times won first place in the British charts. In 2015, the album The Day Is My Enemy became the best-selling album right after the release, despite mixed reviews from critics.

The previous albums of The Prodigy, which also reached the first place of the British charts, were Music For The Jilted Generation (1994), The Fat Of The Land (1997), Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned (2004), 1990) and Invaders Must Die (2005).
