Dogs in the White House again: who else will move with Biden and his wife

President-elect Joe Biden and wife Jill aren't the only ones moving into the White House in 2021. Pets will be back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue—the Bidens have two German shepherds, Champ and Major. Jill Biden shared a photo of the dogs back in August. The publication told more about the new residents of the White House CNet.

The Biden received a Champion from a dog breeder in 2008 and adopted a Major from the Delaware Humane Association in 2018.

Most presidents have owned at least one pet, but President Donald Trump has not. President Barack Obama and his family lived in the White House with two Portuguese water dogs, Bo and Sunny. Obama promised his daughters that if he won the 2008 election, the family could have a dog, and Beau moved into the White House in 2009. Many who have pets know that one pet often turns into two, and Sunny ended up in the presidential family in 2013.

Some dog lovers think news of dogs returning to the White House is good, including the We Rate Dogs Twitter account.

“This is Major and Champion,” We Rate Dogs tweeted. “Champion was already in the White House, but Major wasn’t yet.” Champ can't wait to show him everything."

Several Twitter users have greeted Major and Champion in their new roles on behalf of their pets.

“I’d like to congratulate Champion and Major,” one user wrote on behalf of their dog.

Another, sharing a photo of the dog, said, "Tyson can rest easy knowing that the dogs have returned to the White House."

"Hooray! The dogs have returned to the White House,” the dog rejoices on Twitter.

Although Vice President-elect Kamala Harris doesn't have any pets, she appears to be dog friendly, at least based on a 2019 tweet. “Dogs are always welcome in my Senate office,” she wrote, sharing photos of the dogs. “Here are a few advisors who come to see us regularly.”
