The dog that saved the Obama family received an award

The dog, Hurricane, was awarded the Order of Merit at a special ceremony. In 2014, he detained a trespasser who climbed over the White House fence and eluded patrols. Hurricane was seriously injured in the fight with the criminal, but now he is completely fine.

Now the dog is playful and affectionate, but few can assume that previously the Hurricane was an experienced assistant to the US secret service.

In October 2014, when President Barack Obama and his family were in the White House, the attacker managed to overcome the barrier fence and hide from the first kinelogical calculation thrown at his interception. However, then Hurricane and Officer Marshall Mirarchi entered the case.

“As soon as he saw the target, I gave him the command. The dog rushed past our employees and knocked the intruder to the ground. As a rule, this is where it all ends, and the criminal is arrested. This time everything was different,” the officer recalls.

The intruder got up and began to beat the dog with his fists, legs and throwing him from side to side.

“Usually no one fights with a dog for so long and brutally. It seemed as if the person was not experiencing pain at all. I was forced to watch all this. This is one of the most heartbreaking sights of my life,” added Marshall Mirarchi.

Despite this confrontation, the Hurricane grabbed hold of the intruder. As a result, the man was detained, but the dog was badly injured.

“When I brought him to the car, he looked at me so that I could read his thoughts. It was as if he was telling me: “Father, I did a good job. The dog didn't know that he was protecting the White House, that the President was inside. He did all this for me,” Officer Mirarchi says with emotion.

A few days ago, a Hurricane in London was presented to the Order of Merit. This award marks animals for outstanding service to society.

On the way to another country, the dog was honored as a VIP.

The dog of the Belgian Shepherd breed retired in the 2016 year, having failed to fully recover from the beatings. Now the Hurricane lives the happy life of an ordinary dog.
