Snowboarder Sean White wins the 100th gold for the USA in the history of the Winter Olympics
Snowboarding legend Shawn White entered Olympic history on Wednesday, February 14, when he won the US 100th gold medal in the winter games.
American snowboarder Sean White has become the Olympic champion in the halfpipe discipline.

Previously, the American athlete won the halfpipe discipline at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang. For his best attempt, White scored 97,75 points. Japanese Ayumu Hirano came second (95,25). Third is Australian Scotty James (92,00).
This victory is very significant for an athlete who was seriously injured in October 2017 and could have missed the Winter Olympics in Pkhenchkhane.

“I've been through a lot just to be here. I suffered a terrible injury in New Zealand. Actually, today I did the same trick and got hurt. So I overcame a lot of obstacles, and it was not in vain,” White said in an interview with the Olympic Channel.
Shaun White is the 13 multiple winner of the World Winter Extreme Games in the disciplines slopestyle and superpipe.

Earlier, White received gold medals at the Olympic Games in Turin-2006 and Vancouver-2010.

At the end of four Olympic days in Pkhenchkhane, American snowboarders won all four gold:
- Chloe Kim won the gold medal in the halfpipe discipline;
- Jamie Anderson and Redmon Gerard became the slopestyle winners.
For the first time, snowboarding was included in the program of the Winter Olympic Games in 1998 in the Japanese Nagano.
