Bigfoot exists: how scientists track down yetis in Oregon forests
Explorers and scientists are following the trail of a legendary creature - Bigfoot - in the forests of Oregon. They say they may have captured video of the monster in an area where it had previously been sighted. Writes about this Fox News.
The monkey-like bigfoot creature is considered real by many Americans. More than 10 000 people have described eyewitness meetings with a snowman in the United States over the past 50 years.
About a third of all bigfoot sightings are recorded in Oregon, making it a prime target for bigfoot hunters.
A team of experts was looking for Bigfoot in the forests of central Oregon as part of a documentary for Travel Channel.
Researchers tracked the "hot spots" of the snowman's appearance, analyzed the footprints and used thermal imagers to hunt for the legendary animal.
One of the team members is Mireya Mayor, a primatologist at Florida International University. She said an unusual primate lurking in Oregon's dense forests "could be very real."

Mireya Mayor in 2001 discovered a new species of mouse lemur. And although mouse lemur is very small, scientists think that very large primates can also hide from humans very effectively.
"We've seen this with other monkeys," Major explained.
During the filming of the documentary, the primatologist and her team managed to capture a moving object on thermal imaging cameras.
It is impossible to verify if this is really evidence of the Bigfoot, but it gives creature fans hope.
“We were able to capture video of something that matched the description of Bigfoot,” she said. - A very large animal that moves in an ape-like, if not bipedal, style. For me, this is perhaps the most convincing evidence that I have seen so far.”
The major shared the shots with another primatologist, and he was impressed.
“When he saw the footage, he was absolutely shocked,” the primatologist said. “He agreed with me that it was something similar to a monkey.”
Soon, viewers will be able to see the documentary “Expedition Bigfoot”.
