Deadly walk: a tree fell on a group of tourists in a California national park
Almost a million people visit the Muir Woods National Reserve in California every year. This popular tourist attraction on Christmas Eve has become deadly. Here one of the famous red trees fell on a group of people, writes ABC News. As a result, one person died.

On Christmas Eve around 16:30 p.m., when the park was open to visitors, a group of people walked along the trail to Muir Woods. Suddenly, a tree fell on a hillside path where three people walked.
It fell right on the man, killing him. Another woman was hit by debris. She was sent to the hospital. Another man escaped with a slight startle.
Marin County Coroner said the witnesses immediately called for help on the trail where they found a 28-year-old man: he was lying on the ground under a large tree "without consciousness and signs of life." The deceased lived in Edin, Minnesota.
The statement reads:
“The hillside trail and part of the main trail remain closed until crews clear the tree trunk and branches after the holiday weekend. The tree fell naturally. It is unknown what caused the fall, possibly a prolonged series of winter storms during the last week and a half prior to this incident."

“This is a strange accident. You never know when such things will happen, ”said local resident Brian Walsh.
Brian and his wife Taylor Walsh hoped to visit Muir Woods on Thursday, despite a fatal incident.

Although officials say the incident at Muir Woods this week was an isolated event, aging trees and fragile root systems destroyed by rain are common in the bay area.
